Fashion Tip Friday

Friday is my new fashion tip day.  What a perfect way to start off the weekend.  This week I am combining two "must have" fashion elements, shoes and fingernail polish.  I have finally retired the really dark nail polishes for something equally as fun and trendy.  My new favorite color is "steele grey" by Rimmel London.  It is a really great taupe color that seems to go with everything in my fall wardrobe!  Another must in my fall closet are these fun lace up booties that I found on a shopping trip to Chicago at Urban Outfitters.  Urban Outfitters is a great store, they have trendy affordable clothes and kitschy home accessories.  If you are looking for an upholstered headboard, check out their website!  Have a great weekend!

Happy Halloween

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween, and show you a picture of my favorite mantel!  This is my mother's mantel that she decorated this year for Halloween.  It was really easy to put together.  She found the "Happy Halloween" banner from Michaels Craft Store, along with the bats and cave elements.  Notice the lights in the the sconces are orange, and add a special spooky touch.  Some of the others accessories she had collected from wonderful boutiques, and TJ MAXX, yes I said the MAXX.  They often have wonderful holiday accessories, sometimes you can even score a Bethany Lowe Design.  Now is the perfect time to be on the lookout for Christmas accessories! Start collecting mercury glass, I have several fun ideas for mantels and tablescapes! Hope you have a wonderful and safe Halloween night! XO~Gretchen

Welcome to Nesting in the Bluegrass!

My name is Gretchen Black and I am a stay-at-home mom, interior decorator, and co-owner of a custom design jewelry/accessory business called Lulubelles.biz.  I am married to a wonderful man, and have three beautiful boys.  My intent for my blog is to give helpful tips about decorating your nest, and fashion tips!  

Look how easy this photo background was to put together.  It is just a couple of bales of hay, different sizes of pumpkins, and tall corn stalks.  Then just have a friend/neighbor take the picture.  What a great way to capture the season!  Hope you check back often, I will have lots of helpful design tips!  Thanks for looking!
